Does the Mazda CX 5 come equipped with a block heater?

  The 2020 CX-5 doesn't include a block heater. According to my dealer, Mazda's engineers believe that with synthetic motor oil and their excellent engine design, a block heater isn't needed. It seems they haven't experienced the harsh Canadian winters that can freeze car batteries and cause tire flat spots. Mazda may want to reconsider this decision.

  Incorrect. Previously, older Mazda vehicles came with a built-in engine block heater. However, starting in 2018, this feature is no longer included. Mazda claims that their advanced design and high-quality synthetic engine oil make block heaters unnecessary for drivers in Canada.

  I got a block heater installed on my 2020 CX5 Signature by the dealer when I bought it. However, I have to unplug it an hour before starting the car or else it triggers a "check engine light" on the dashboard. This happens because the dealer didn't properly program the car's computer system, so the car thinks it's overheating (coolant) when it's not. If you're in Canada, make sure the dealership sets the parameters when installing a block heater, or else you'll end up spending money to clear the code. Alternatively, you can do what I did and get your own OBD2 scanner to clear the codes yourself and save some cash. Just my two cents based on personal experience.

  No, they are not included! The 2019 model from northern Montana that I had did not come with that feature!
