Starting in 2004, the Nissan Frontier with a 4-cylinder engine will come with a timing chain system, while those with a V6 engine will have a timing belt. This was the final year the V6 models used a timing belt, as all models from 2005 onwards use a timing chain. The timing belt in V6 models should be replaced every 70,000 to 100,000 miles, costing between $400 and $700 for parts and labor.
