Big O

The 2015 Honda CR-V requires SAE 0W-20 Synthetic Motor Oil with a capacity of 4.6 quarts. It's crucial because it lubricates engine parts, safeguards the emission system, and can improve fuel efficiency. A typical oil change for your Honda will cost between $60 and $90 for parts and labor. It's recommended to get an oil change every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. Signs that it's time for an oil change include engine ticking, transmission issues, shaking at idle, exhaust smoke, reduced fuel efficiency, and warning lights like Check Engine or Oil Change.

The manual recommends adding 4.6 quarts of oil along with a new filter. However, even after following these instructions, the dipstick indicates that the oil level is still low. This happened consistently over the last three oil changes, where I ended up adding a whole 5 quarts of oil each time. I even checked the oil level again 30 minutes after the change and it was still almost a quart low. Is this a common issue for anyone else?

Certainly! I've experienced the same problem before and I remedy it by using exactly 5.0 quarts when changing the filter. After about an hour, the oil level looks perfect. Also, why wouldn't anyone change the oil filter along with the oil? I prefer using OW-20 full synthetic oil with a K&N PS1010 filter.

The manual indicates that the oil level should fall between the designated marks, not at the highest mark.

The 2015 Honda CR-V is best suited for using a full synthetic oil with viscosity graded as SAE 0W-20. The SUV has a capacity to hold 4.6 quarts of oil along with a new filter.
