The 2015 Nissan Altima requires 4.8 quarts of oil for the 4-cylinder engine and 5 quarts for the V6 engine, both using SAE 0W-20. Nissan advises using synthetic oil for oil changes. In today's market, the two main oil types are conventional, an older petroleum-based option, and synthetic, a newer alternative that provides better wear protection and longer life. With synthetic oil, you may only need to change it every 7,500 miles, compared to 3,500 to 5,000 miles with conventional oil. I suggest checking your oil at least once a month to ensure it is at the correct level and in good condition.
