Although the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze's PCV valve has not been subject to any recalls, there is a relevant technical service bulletin (PIP5197) that addresses issues in this model and other years as well. While a technical service bulletin is not as severe as a recall, it does signal an enduring problem with the component that requires the manufacturer's attention. If you notice excessive oil consumption, oil leaks, or blue smoke coming from the exhaust in this model, along with diagnostic trouble codes like P0106, P0171, P0299, P0507, P1101, or P2096, it may be due to a missing or improperly seated intake manifold non-valve damaging the PCV orifice diaphragm. Unfortunately, this issue is only covered for vehicles under warranty, otherwise, the expense will be the responsibility of the consumer.

I've had this problem pop up about 4-5 times already, each time setting me back around $990, then discovered an oil leak the next day costing an additional $250 to replace the valve cover gasket. It's frustrating that Chevrolet hasn't addressed this recurring issue. I can't continue to shell out money every six months for the same problem. Is anyone else considering taking legal action against Chevrolet for the repair costs and dealing with a car that constantly needs fixing? I know I am. My car is a 2012 model with 130,000 miles on it, mostly used for a short 4-mile round trip commute.
