To remotely start a 2017 Chevy Malibu, first ensure that the car doors are locked as the system won't activate if they are unlocked. Use the lock button on the key fob to confirm this. Then, press and hold down the remote start button on the fob for at least 4 seconds, which is denoted by a circular arrow symbol. The signal lights will flash, indicating that the vehicle has started. When you are ready to drive, insert the key into the ignition to shift gears. To deactivate the remote start while inside the car, simply press the brake pedal. If you need to cancel the remote start from outside the vehicle, press and hold the same circular arrow button until the parking lights turn off, which will shut down the engine.
