The method for taking off the outer door handle on a 2016 Toyota Corolla differs for the front and rear doors. For the front handle, start by opening the door and taking off the rubber grommet at the end of the door. Beneath the grommet, there's a T-30 torx bolt - unscrew it by turning it counterclockwise. Next, remove the lock by wiggling it and pulling it out. Then, grab the handle and pull it towards the back of the car to remove it. As for the rear door handle, you'll find three T-30 torx bolts securing the latch - remove them and slide down the latch. This will give you access to the bolt for the handle, located above the latch. Once you unscrew this bolt, the handle will come off the same way as the front handle.

To install a new exterior door handle on a 2016 Toyota Corolla, start by prying open the switch panel with a screwdriver and pulling it forward. Disconnect and set aside the switch panel. Next, pry open the armrest tab and remove the mirror panel on the inside. Take out the two screws securing the armrest and the clips holding the door panel in place. Remove the door panel and peel back the water shield. Locate a clip near the door handle and release it from the rod, then pull out the rod. Do the same with the clip near the lock mechanism. Unscrew the two 10mm bolts on the handle to remove it. Transfer the lock mechanism to the new handle and insert the new handle in place of the old one. Reassemble by securing all clips, rods, screws, and panels back into place.
