To change the spark plugs on a 2013 Ford Explorer, you will need specific tools such as a flathead screwdriver, deep well 13mm socket with a socket wrench, 8mm socket, 5/8" spark plug socket, and a pair of needle-nose pliers. First, you will need to trim the plastic engine cover to access the spark plugs. Then, loosen the metal hose clamp on the air intake using the screwdriver to create more space. Next, cut the bolt on the air intake and remove the ignition coil bolt. Lift out the ignition coil to reach the spark plugs within the wells, which can be taken out using the 5/8" spark plug socket. Be sure to thoroughly clean the spark plug wells and inspect the old spark plugs before installing the new ones.
