When the ABS light illuminates on your Chevy Tahoe, it means the computer has detected an issue with the Anti-Lock Brake system. This could be a minor occurrence or a more serious problem such as a defective sensor or part. Once you confirm that the ABS system is working properly, you should reset the warning light to ensure it functions correctly the next time a fault is detected. To do this, disconnect the negative battery terminal and keep it off for 20-30 minutes. For a quicker reset, press the brake pedal for a minute or two to completely drain any remaining voltage from the vehicle's electronics. Reconnect the battery afterward, and the light should disappear.

The ABS light is illuminated on my dashboard. I plan to disconnect the positive battery cable and press the brake pedal to drain the electrical system. We initially tried this with the negative cable but the light is still on. I will attempt this reset procedure again tomorrow to see if the light goes off. Thank you.

To reset the ABS light in your car, start by disconnecting the positive cable from the battery and holding down the brake pedal to drain the vehicle's electrical system. Replace the ABS sensor when the light comes back on. Use an OBD code reader connected to the onboard diagnostic system in your car to identify any other causes for the brake light signal.

I'm not sure what model truck you have, but try quickly tapping the brakes three times before starting the engine.
