The easiest way to reset the Check Engine Light on a Ford Explorer is to fix the part that's causing it. Although this may sound straightforward, the light typically comes on for a specific reason. That being said, there are two methods that you can use to turn off the light, regardless of whether you've resolved the underlying issue. It's important to note that if you haven't fixed the problem, there's a high probability that the light will illuminate again. The first method involves using an OBD-II scan tool to clear the trouble codes, as long as they are not permanent codes. Another option is to disconnect the battery for at least 10 to 15 minutes. After reconnecting the power, the light should reset.

Put the key into the ignition and turn the car on for a brief moment, followed by turning it off for a short period. Repeat this process two more times before driving the car as you normally would.

Typically, I disconnect the positive terminal for approximately 5 minutes, and then reconnecting it should reset the system.

My car's engine was running when the check-in attendant took it to check. It wasn't running previously, nor was it running when I picked it up. It might be something standard at Ford dealerships. It's a good idea to always request paperwork whenever you bring in your vehicle for service. They didn't offer to provide it to me. After some time, the service record is no longer in their system.
