To clear the "check engine" light on your Toyota RAV4, you will require an OBD-II scan tool. The light won't go away unless you erase the error codes or fix the mechanical issue behind it. It could even be triggered by something as minor as a loose gas cap or a clogged fuel filler neck, so check these first. Find the OBD-II port located to the left of the driver's steering wheel. Insert the scanner into the port and run a diagnostic test. Select "read" to identify the error codes responsible for the illuminated "check engine" light. Once prompted, opt to "erase" them. Your RAV4's warning light should then turn off.
You can reset the check engine light on the Toyota RAV4 by disconnecting the battery terminal for at least 15 minutes.
