Regardless of whether the ignition is on or the engine is running, you can reset the oil life from the steering wheel's 4-way control. Go to the vehicle settings, scroll down to find the oil life reset option, and hold down "OK" to reset it. I tried this on my vehicle and it worked. I hope this explanation is useful to you.

Start by turning the ignition to the "on" position without starting the engine. Next, press and hold the select/release knob on your dashboard until the display shows "oil life x*x percent hold reset= new."
