To reset the oil change reminder on the 2011 Ford Focus, simply press and hold the oil button on the dashboard. Keep in mind that the light will not turn off if you don't change the oil. When carrying out an oil change, make sure the car has been turned off and allowed to cool for a couple of hours to avoid getting burned by the hot oil. Locate the oil pan and drain plug underneath the engine compartment, position a bucket underneath, and remove the plug to drain the oil. Let it drain completely, which may take about an hour. Once it's done, reinstall the drain plug and find the intake port on top of the oil pan. Fill the oil pan using a funnel, ensuring not to overfill. It's better to be slightly underfilled than overfilled to prevent leaks and oil burning off. Close the port, clean up any spilled oil, and you're all set.

Look at the indicator key and do not turn on the engine again. To start the push-button ignition, press the button once without starting the engine, then proceed with the next step promptly. Simultaneously press the gas and brake pedals for traditional key ignitions until they go all the way down, holding them for about 20 seconds. The display will show "oil reset," continue pressing the pedals until it shows "full.
