The oil light in your 2010 Ford Escape signals when the current oil is no longer providing sufficient protection. It calculates this based on mileage and time since the light was last reset. To reset the light after an oil change, turn on the vehicle's electrical system without starting the engine using the key. Press the Setup button until you see "OIL LIFE x%x HOLD RESET = NEW" on the display. Hold the Reset button for about 2 seconds once this message appears, and then release it to reset the oil life to 100%.

Start the car by turning the ignition one notch before starting the engine. Press the setup button repeatedly until you see "oil life x*x% hold reset = new" on the display. Hold down the reset button for two seconds, then let go to reset the oil life to 100%. The display will now show "oil life set to 100%".
