Ignoring the warning without fixing the root cause could raise the chances of a collision. The bolts holding the gear motor of the steering wheel may corrode, leading to the motor coming loose from its housing and causing a loss of power steering assistance. To address this, dealerships are replacing and sealing the motor's bolts. If you receive the power steering assist warning by mistake, you can try resetting it by disconnecting the negative battery cable and then reconnecting it.
