Here are the steps to disable the daytime running lights on your Honda Pilot while leaving the vehicle on. First, turn off the car. Then, engage the parking brake. Next, turn the car back on. Following these three simple steps will allow the vehicle to remain running while the daytime running lights are turned off. There may not be many instances where you need to disable the daytime running lights, but one example could be when you're at a drive-in movie. Nowadays, many cars, including Honda models, automatically turn on the daytime running lights when the vehicle is started, making it seem like there is no way to deactivate them without turning off the car completely. However, shutting off the car is not ideal at the drive-in since you may want to keep the engine running to prevent the battery from dying. Additionally, you might prefer to have the air conditioning on during warm, humid summer nights.

Give the emergency brake a try. Shut off the motor and then restart it. Recently got the 2021 Pilot SE and I'm happy with how it's performing.

Simply rotate the light switch to the "off" position. There are four settings: "OFF", sidelights symbol, AUTO, and headlights symbol. Rotate it to "OFF".

One more thing to consider? We have to take a ferry to reach our home. The workers on the ferry insist that all lights be turned off while driving onto the ferry (they find it uncomfortable to be blinded at night). Therefore, when I approach to pay, I have to switch off the car, set the parking brake to the first level, and then start the car again. This allows me to drive onto the ferry (with the parking brake slightly engaged) without any exterior lights, although the car keeps chiming the entire way to let me know. I understand that this situation may not be usual, but when you design a car for the general public, you must be prepared for the unexpected.

Certain older car models do not offer the option to manually turn off Daytime Running Lights while the vehicle is running. If this is the case, you can take the following steps: 1. Turn off the ignition. 2. Engage the parking brake. 3. Select the 'DRL OFF' function. You can then power on the vehicle using just the battery or by running the fuel, depending on your preference. To conserve electricity, you may want to limit the use of features like displays, lights, radios, and outlets. It's important to remember to revert all changes made to your vehicle's settings once you exit the vehicle.

I switched off my pilot light and set my parking brake before restarting the engine. Initially, my daytime running light was off, but it turned back on once I released the parking brake.
