To adjust the interior lights of the 2019 Ford Escape, you can dim or turn them off by repeatedly pressing the lower brightness control button next to the headlight control dial. The dashboard lights will decrease in brightness or switch off completely. To increase brightness, use the upper button until you reach your desired level. The dash display will indicate "Instrument Dimming" with a brightness bar. For the overhead lights, just push up on the light to turn them on or off. If any door is open, the interior lights will come on. Simply identify the open door, close it, and the lights will automatically turn off.

Dumb Ford car. Make sure all doors are closed, you're inside the vehicle, and manually turn off the overhead lights.

Ford vehicles do not come equipped with a feature to turn off the interior or exterior lights when the door is open, which can be frustrating, especially while camping and dealing with lots of bugs. I won't purchase another Ford vehicle unless they address this problem.
