In the Ford Focus, the Hill Descent assist technology works alongside the car's anti-lock brakes and traction control to help maintain a steady speed while going down a steep slope. This feature automatically controls the vehicle's speed and braking, keeping it between 2-12 mph, similar to cruise control. You can turn it off by pressing the Hill Descent control button on the top left of the center display screen or by speeding up past 40 mph. It will also turn off when you switch off the car's ignition. To turn it back on, simply press the button again. A chime will confirm that the system is active. You can then set your desired speed using the accelerator or brake pedal, then take your foot off. This allows the Focus to descend at the chosen speed, giving the driver more focus on steering.
