The method for deactivating the paddle shifters in a Mercedes can differ depending on the year and model of the vehicle. Some models feature a button on the center console that allows you to toggle between manual and automatic mode for the transmission, enabling the use of the paddles for shifting. In other models, you may need to simultaneously hold both paddle shifters for a few seconds to exit manual mode and return to displaying the standard gears on the screen. If you wished to fully deactivate the paddle shifters, you would need to dismantle the steering wheel and disconnect the electrical connectors from each shifter.

On the right side of the steering wheel, there's a switch at the back. Give it a pull towards you, and that will activate the paddle shifters.
