If you're behind the wheel of a BMW X3, you might wonder about disabling the 4x4 feature in your vehicle. The 4x4 setup ensures that power is sent to all four wheels simultaneously in a vehicle with just two axles. For the BMW X3, this 4x4 capability is constant rather than on demand, so you cannot deactivate it while driving your car.

I knew it! Simply press firmly on the DTC button on the dashboard and the 4x4 will disengage, as indicated on your dashboard screen.

    here is a revised version:

    1. Unplug the motor plug to disconnect the transfer.
    2. Take out fuse number 26 (please check the specific year for accuracy).
    3. Disconnect the connection behind the battery located in the trunk.

X3s come with all-wheel drive (AWD) instead of four-wheel drive (4x4).

You cannot turn off the 4x4 feature on a BMW X3.

Of course! You can do it. I own a 2005 BMW X3 2.5I. To turn off the light, make sure all doors are closed, start the car, turn the wheel fully left and then fully right, straighten out the steering wheel, and the light will go off.

I own a 2006 BMW X3 with a dashboard warning for a malfunction in the system. The all-wheel drive is not functioning properly, with only one wheel spinning. This issue could potentially be due to a disconnected plug in fuse 26 or the transfer motor.
