I have a 2017 Chevy Cruze. In the trunk, near the battery's negative terminal, there is a small plug that is responsible for controlling the stop-start feature. By unplugging it, you can disable the stop-start function without causing any other issues. While some newer cars may show a check engine light after doing this, mine doesn't. If your car does display the check engine light, simply plug the connection back in, and it should clear on its own without the need for a scanner or disconnecting the battery.
