The auto stop feature in the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox allows you to easily move your car forward by lifting your foot off the brake after a red light turns green, instead of manually pressing the gas pedal. To disable this feature, start the car, shift into manual mode and look for the "L" to light up on the dashboard. Then, press the plus button on the shifter knob until "L6" appears near the mileage counter. By following these steps, you can deactivate the auto stop feature in your car.

Chevrolet has chosen not to include a dedicated switch or button for owners who wish to deactivate the auto stop/start function on their Equinox. Nevertheless, there is a workaround available that can be used to turn it off. To do this, simply begin by starting the Equinox and then engage the gear shift.

Is it possible to completely deactivate the auto start-stop feature in a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox?

Chevrolet made the choice to exclude a specific switch or button for users looking to deactivate the auto stop/start feature in their Equinox. Nevertheless, there is a way around this to disable it. To do so, initiate the Equinox and move the gear lever to "manual mode." Adjust the gear range by using the + and - buttons on the gear shift, moving it up to the highest number, which should display as "9" on the instrument panel as you drive.

Can you reactivate the auto stop feature on a 2020 Equinox after disabling it?

To disable the automatic stop feature in a Chevy Equinox, go to the front of the car and open the hood. Look for a connector near the lever used to open the hood - this connector is the sensor responsible for the auto stop function. Simply disconnect this connector to permanently disable the feature. By doing this, your vehicle will no longer turn off when braking to save gas. This method worked for my 2018 Chevrolet Equinox.

Just go ahead and disconnect the connector, it's located right behind the lever for opening the hood, easily visible. Raise the small red tab upwards and then lift the black tab underneath it to slide it out smoothly. The solution involving the shifter is not effective.

I was informed at the dealership that in Manuel mode adjustments were made to shift points and transmission pressure. I am uncertain if the cruise control is functioning properly as well.

Amazon sells a wire for $20 that you can set up to turn off the auto stop feature in your Chevy vehicle. Just search for "Chevy auto stop disable" on their website.

Gonzalo, thanks a lot for your help! I followed your advice to disconnect and it solved the issue. Much easier than dealing with the shift feature. Appreciate it!
