Hill descent control in the Ford Escape is intended for use while towing a trailer to provide improved control over your SUV and trailer to prevent sliding. If you prefer to deactivate the system, you can easily do so by accessing the main menu on the dashboard using the steering wheel buttons. In the menu, navigate to driver assistance and locate hill assist. Then, simply press the enter button to toggle the feature on or off, enabling or disabling it accordingly.
So, where can I find this switch located?
Could you tell me where the switch is located, please?
The switch for the 2010 Ford Escape is located on the left side of the gear shift lever, near the bottom.
The downhill descent control switch for the 2011 Escape is located on the gear shift handle where your thumb naturally rests when you place your hand on the shifter.
In my car, a 2009 Ford Escape, I found a small button on the left side of the gear shifter with the hill descent symbol.
Where in the world is the darn switch located??
I own a 2022 Ford Escape Plug-In Hybrid. I can't locate the hill descent control button anywhere, and it seems to activate automatically on small downhill slopes. This is hurting our gas mileage and I'm concerned about the strain on our brakes. The dealership can't schedule us for 2 months, so I'd like to disable it on my own. Any suggestions on how to do this would be really helpful!
To disable the hill descent control in the Ford Escape, simply press the switch to the off setting. The indicator light will go out to confirm it's off.
Has anyone discovered the solution? Can you lend a hand, please?
Here's a paraphrased and refined version: We have a 2018 model that we need to get rid of as well.
My 2015 Ford Escape doesn't come with hill descent as part of its driver assistance features; it only includes traction control.
I drive a 2022 Hybrid Escape. To turn off Grade Assist, go to Settings on your screen, select Driver Assistance, and scroll down to find the Grade Assist option. Then switch it to the Off setting.
Make sure to inspect your gear shift - if it includes a button, it could be the hill descent button. I have this feature on my 2012 Ford Escape.
