Parking lights provide BMW drivers with the ability to safely park in dark areas without worrying about collisions or accidental damage. These lights stay on, forming a light perimeter around the vehicle to notify other drivers of the BMW's presence. Once you have parked, turn off the engine, take out the key fob, and open the driver's door. Only when the driver's door is opened will the exterior lights turn on. Elevate the control stalk on the steering wheel to activate the lights fully. A lit "P" will show up in the driver's information cluster to confirm that the parking lights are engaged. To turn off the lights, push the stalk in the opposite direction. The lights will only be active on one side of the car, but you can push the stalk down to activate them on the passenger's side.
