To deactivate the traction control system in your Ford Escape, you just have to press the traction control button on the center console dashboard. Depending on the year of your Escape, the button will feature either a car with S-shaped lines or will be labeled "TCS". The SUV's traction control system cuts power to the wheels when a sensor detects loss of traction, which is handy on slippery surfaces. If you find yourself needing to disable the system often due to issues, it might be a good idea to have it checked for any faulty parts.
Why does it decide to turn back on after being switched off? Do I really need to remove the fuse? It's frustrating to have an off button that doesn't do anything.
I have a 2009 Ford Escape, and there's no way to completely disable the traction control. I've tried pressing the button, the light comes on, but even when I'm stuck, I can't spin my tires. I've even held down the button until it flashes, but it still won't let me spin my tires. It's really frustrating because I can't get unstuck in certain situations.
Head to the central console and locate a button displaying a car with wavy tire marks. Press it to deactivate Traction Control.
To deactivate traction control on a Ford Escape, simply press the TSC off button found on the lower right side of the center console.
