Collapsing the rear seat in the Chevy Silverado is easy. There is a latch on either side of the seat that you must release to fold them down. Lift the cover of the storage area and slide the seats inside. Once they are folded down, secure the cover back in place and your back seat will be removed.

Does anybody have tips on how to collapse the rear seat of a 2001 Silverado extended cab? I managed to lift the bottom seat, but I'm unable to lower it back down. I can't seem to locate any release mechanism either. Any help would be appreciated!

There's a latch located at the back of the seat. If you pull on it, you'll be able to lower the seat down.

On my 2020 Silverado 1500, the lower seat cushion can be folded up, but the seat backs cannot be folded down.

You guys are mistaken – all the seats fold down. There's a latch on the top of the passenger side of the seat that allows it to fold down.
