The anti-theft system in the 2010 Mazda Mazda3 prevents the engine from starting unless a recognized key is used. If the system is accidentally triggered or malfunctions, you can reset it yourself to get the vehicle running again. To do this, try to start the engine with the key in the ignition, then return the key to the ON position for 10 seconds before turning it off. Wait another 10 seconds and attempt to start the vehicle. If that doesn't work, repeat this process three times without starting the engine, just turning the key ON and OFF with 10-second intervals. If you still face issues, you may need to have it reset by a dealership.

I drive a 2012 speed3. Three times now, I've had an issue where I locked my car, went to work, came out for lunch, and found that it wouldn't start, with the immobilizer light flashing. After some frustration, I was able to get a jumpstart each time and it worked fine afterwards until the next occurrence.
