This action will reprogram the transponder from the ignition switch. To prevent unauthorized access using an unregistered key in your Chevrolet Silverado, General Motors has integrated an anti-theft system known as Passlock. If an incorrect key or tool is used to start the ignition, the Passlock system will disable the fuel system of the truck. Without the fuel system functioning, your Silverado's engine will be unable to start.

I replaced my turn signal switch and ignition lock but couldn't program the Passlock. After many tries, I discovered that my interior lights, headlights, door locks, and chime were not functioning. I eventually traced the issue to the 10 amp TBC fuse in the lower right side of the under hood fuse box. Despite the fuse appearing okay, replacing it allowed me to complete the coding process. Hopefully, this tip will help others avoid wasting time and frustration.
