To reinitialize the sunroof on a Ford Escape, follow these steps based on the model year. For 2012 or earlier models (and similar Mercury Mariners), make sure the driver's side door is open and the key is turned on. Press the sunroof to vent, then turn the key off. Quickly turn it back on, tap the vent button once more, and then hold it down. Newer models from 2013 onwards have a different process. With the driver's door open, toggle the key off, on, off, on, and immediately press the sunroof closed button before holding it down. After roughly 20 seconds, the sunroof will open fully and then shut. This completes the reset.

Please ensure that the driver's front door is open the entire time. Turn the ignition to the on position, then quickly toggle the ignition on and off, followed by pressing the sliding glass panel close switch for a brief moment and then letting go. Hold down the sliding glass button until the window fully opens and closes. Release the button, start the car, and check if the steps worked successfully.

I've used this method twice already to reset my sunroof, and I'm really thankful! Thank you so much! It's snowing outside, and I'm 6.5 months pregnant, so this really made my day brighter. Blessings to you!
