For the standard system, make sure all doors are locked by using the LOCK button on your key fob. Then, within five seconds, hold down the remote start button for two seconds or longer. This button usually looks like a circle with an arrow on the right side. Additionally, if your car has any active diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), remote start functionality may not be available, as this is considered a planned feature rather than a malfunction.
