The fuel filter in the 2013 Ford Explorer is located within the fuel pump assembly. Typically, the fuel pump is positioned underneath the vehicle and connected to the fuel rail. Accessing the fuel filter is straightforward as it is secured by a few bolts that are easy to remove. The replacement cost can range from $200 to $800 on average, but in some instances, the filter and pump are integrated into the gas tank. In such cases, a new gas tank may be required to replace the pump, but there will be external access for installing a new filter. The prices for this option are similar, perhaps a bit higher than just replacing the pump.

If you see the check fuel inlet warning on a 2013 Ford Explorer, it may mean there is a problem with the gas cap - it might be either damaged or not securely fastened.

    I'm not certain about that.

My issue began after our explorer got rear-ended. I believe there might be a problem with the seal around the fuel door that doesn't have a cap. I've noticed that the door doesn't close as tightly now, which could indicate a vacuum leak.
