I'm not sure what kind of phone you have, so this might be a bit general, but it should work pretty similarly whether you're using an Android or an iPhone. To start, make sure to turn on Bluetooth on your phone. Then grab your phone and head to your Mercedes, making sure you bring it with you – it's crucial. If you leave your phone at a friend's place, you won't be able to complete this process. Press the "Phone" button on your Mercedes' control settings and choose "Bluetooth Phones" from the list. Navigate to "Options" and then "External Authorization." Your Mercedes will try to locate your phone so they can pair up. You'll get a notification on your phone labeled "MB Bluetooth." Select this, and give permission to connect when prompted. Your car will then ask you to enter a four-digit passcode. Say the code to your car and type it in on your phone's keypad. Click "Connect" on your phone and wait a bit. You should see "Paired" on both your C230's radio and your phone.

For a 2005 car, it won't work. You need a newer model. It appears to be a service offered by Mercedes to enable phone use in the vehicle.
