To open the trunk of a Ford Escape from inside the vehicle, simply press the trunk button found on the driver's side of the dashboard next to the steering wheel. The button has an image of an SUV with the back hatch raised. If you're in the cargo area and need to exit, you'll have to move to the front of the car to press the button as there's no internal manual tailgate release. If your tailgate is not functioning, make sure to inspect the fuses and wiring leading to the motor for any issues.

These responses are incredibly dumb. If the button was actually functional, why would anyone even need to ask this question?

To unlock the trunk of a Ford Escape, you can either press the button on the key fob or use the release button inside the vehicle. The button is situated on the driver's side console below the air vent under the dashboard.

To manually release the back hatch on the 2009-2012 Escapes, you need to remove the rear hatch panel from the inside. It's easier to do this when the glass is open, but you can also do it with the glass closed. Reach down and find a small latch located under an electric motor on the hatch side. If you wiggle the latch, it should open the hatch.

I am unable to access the rear door of my 2006 Ford Escape because there is no button inside and my key fob is not functioning. None of my doors are unlocked.

I'm not sure what to do if the key fob and dashboard button won't open the trunk because the trunk door seems to be stuck shut even though it's not fully closed. Can you please assist me in figuring out how to open it? Thank you.

To all you guys, can you believe it? My 2013 Ford Escape SEL doesn't have an interior trunk release button on the key fob. The key fob is also unmarked. But hey, it has a moonroof and a turbo, even though that doesn't make sense for the SEL model. Go Ford! 🚗👍

That won't be of any use in getting me out if the kidnapper decides to put me in the cargo area!

In 2012, the Escape does not have an interior release feature, nor is there any control on the key fob for it.
