To access the engine compartment on a 2017 Chevy Traverse, start by opening the driver's side door and locating the hood release lever above the parking brake pedal. Grip the bottom edge of the lever and pull it towards you to release the hood latch. Then, move to the front of the vehicle to disengage the secondary latch. Slide your fingers between the grille and the hood, just slightly left of center with your palm facing downwards. Locate the lever about an inch and a half in, slide it to the right. Raise the hood up, and it will stay in place thanks to the hydraulic shocks once elevated sufficiently.
