To easily pump fuel into the Ford Ranger without starting the engine, you need to bleed the fuel system. Start by removing air from the low-pressure side by unscrewing the fuel-line screws and bleeding the ports moving away from the pump. Next, for the high-pressure system, slightly loosen the union nuts at the top of the fuel injectors and the fuel line. Turn the engine with the starter for 10 seconds and check for fuel. Once you see fuel coming out, tighten the union nuts back up.
