One of the trickiest parts of taking off the harmonic balancer from the Chevrolet Colorado is being able to keep the flywheel in place. The manual suggests using the pricey Ken-Moore flywheel holding tool EN-46547, but many drivers and technicians find it too costly at over $200 for a tool that may only be used once. Instead, it is recommended to employ the starter itself or a 1/2 inch breaker bar to secure the flywheel against the frame rail. Once the flywheel is steady, removing and replacing the harmonic balancer should be much simpler. That's the main challenge you'll encounter; the rest of the procedure is quite straightforward.
