To adjust the liftgate opening angle on your 2019 Toyota Highlander, start by opening the rear door. Then, press and hold the power back door switch on the back door for approximately 7 seconds. You'll hear a series of beeps: four initially, followed by a brief pause, and then two more beeps. This action will set the liftgate to open at its maximum angle. To customize the angle, open the rear door and use the power back door switch to adjust the door to your preferred height. Once set, press the switch again. Finally, hold down the switch for around 2 seconds until you hear four beeps. From now on, when you open the rear door, it will only rise as high as you've specified.

Could you clarify what you mean by "close"? Should I press the button once more, use the steering wheel button, or manually shut the door?

Ensure that the liftgate is open and stationary. Press and hold the button to close the rear liftgate until it emits 4 beeps. Continue to hold the button until it beeps once more, then release it. Finally, close the liftgate.

My used 2018 Toyota Highlander XLE has a strange opening at the top of the power lift gate near the fin. I haven't done anything to cause this, so why is it there? It seems like I may have accidentally caused it while using the power lift gate. Can you assist me with this issue?
