Taking out the rear driveshaft of a Ford Ranger can be quite a complicated task. You will have to have a lift along with impact tools, sockets, pliers, and screwdrivers to detach it. The driveshaft is connected to both the rear differential and the transmission or transfer case. The first step is to detach the driveshaft from the transmission or transfer case by removing the pin that holds the yokes together as they come out. Typically, you will need to use an impact wrench to release the torque on this pin and then pry it out. Once the pin is free, proceed to detach the yokes at the rear differential. After both yokes are loose, you can slide the driveshaft out towards the back and lower it down.
