To disable the speed limiter on a Ford Transit, you must visit a repair shop to reprogram the ECU, which is the car's computer system responsible for controlling speed. This requires a specialized device that most people do not have access to, unless you're a mechanic due to its high cost. A repair shop can complete this task in approximately an hour for around $200, but be aware that tampering with the speed limiter may be illegal in some areas and could void your car's warranty. So, ensure you fully understand the implications before proceeding.

To disable the speed limiter on the transit vehicle, you need to access the electronic control unit (ECU) and use a flash tool to make changes.

The ECU has to be reprogrammed to remove the factory speed limit feature. Any authorized dealer is capable of handling the task, and it will cost one hour of labor plus shop supplies and tax. No additional parts are needed. Monica upstairs doesn't have a clue.

I recently brought my 2021 Ford Transit Connect to the dealership to remove the speed limiter, but unfortunately, they couldn't because it was installed from the factory. Feeling frustrated, I spent an hour going through the manual and discovered that there is a switch to deactivate the limiter. It's frustrating that Ford didn't mention this to me, but I'm relieved that I found out myself. While I'm generally content with driving at the 70 mph limit, it's great to have the option to accelerate for passing when needed.

The speed limiter in Ford Transits is controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM), not the Engine Control Unit (ECU). Because of this, typical remapping services won't be able to adjust it. You'll have to locate someone with the necessary Ford tool to make the changes on the BCM module.

I'm experiencing a similar problem with my 2013 car model. I took it to a remapping shop, but they couldn't resolve it despite trying multiple codes. Now, we're thinking of taking it to a Ford dealership for further assistance. I'll keep you posted on whether this resolves the issue.

Even better, purchase an OBD reader online and download the free FORScan software on your laptop to do the diagnostics yourself. The OBD reader costs only £7. You guys are all mistaken! Haha 😂😂

I went to Bluespark Automotive's website (bluesparkautomotive.com) and had the speed limiter removed as well as getting a boost in horsepower. I believe that reputable tuning companies should be able to offer similar services.

I have visited 2 places where they checked the ECU and showed me on their computer that the limiter has not been removed, even though their software indicates otherwise. Can anyone suggest a way to remove the limiter?
