In a 2012 Toyota Highlander, repairing the sunglass holder can be a tricky task due to its delicate nature. This sunglass holder is mounted on the ceiling of your vehicle and is spring-loaded. If one of these springs malfunctions, you'll have to swap out the entire unit. While it's technically possible to replace just a spring, sourcing the necessary parts is challenging and it involves more effort than replacing the entire assembly. To swap out the whole sunglass holder, you'll have to open it up, unscrew the fasteners securing it in place, and then carefully pry it off the ceiling before removing it from the vehicle.

If your sunglasses case won't close properly, there might be a problem with the sunglasses obstructing it or with the small spring that keeps the latch secure.
