To replace the fuel pump on a 2013 Chevy Cruze, start by depressurizing the fuel system. Initially, briefly remove and reattach the gas cap. Next, find the Schrader valve on the fuel rail and take off the cap. Attach a fuel pressure test gauge adapter to the valve and connect a fuel pressure gauge with a bleeder hose to release the gasoline from the system. Disconnect the negative battery terminal, lift the rear of the car with a jack, support it with jackstands, and remove the passenger rear wheel and inner fender splash shield. Behind the shield, detach the electrical connector. Remove the muffler, loosen the exhaust straps, and use a siphoning pump to empty the gas tank. Disconnect the fuel supply line, vent pipe, fuel tank filler hose, and filler vent pipe. Position a jack with a plywood piece underneath the tank, lift it to support the bottom, undo the tank strap bolts, and carefully maneuver the tank to clear the exhaust. Unplug the electrical connectors for the fuel pump module and sensor, and disconnect the fuel line connectors. Unscrew the lock ring of the fuel pump fuel level sending unit module counterclockwise, lift the pump out of the tank, making sure not to damage the level sensor and arm.
