To change the thermostat on a Ford Transit, you will need specific tools including an 8mm socket, T-25 TorxBit, a flat blade screwdriver, and a ratchet. Start by opening the hood and locating the thermostat housing between the radiator and the engine, below and to the left of the dipstick. It's a tight space, so it's necessary to remove the intercooler to create more room to work. Begin by taking out the two T-25 TorxBolts from the intercooler cover and then loosen the two clamps on the upper radiator hose, pulling them away from the collars. Disconnect the electrical connection on the left side and remove the four 10mm bolts from the intercooler bracket. Move the intercooler out of the way and proceed to remove the three 8mm bolts securing the thermostat housing to the engine. Extract the housing to access the thermostat inside, allowing you to replace it with a new one.

Here's a simplified version: Drain the coolant and detach the intake piping, then take off the upper radiator hose connected to the thermostat housing. Remove the thermostat housing and then reassemble everything.
