To begin changing a flat tire on your 2014 Ford Escape as an American, start by parking on a flat surface away from traffic. Locate the tire and jack underneath the trunk's lining. Loosen the wingnut securing the tire by turning it to the left. Take out the jack kit pieces, ensuring you remember how they go together for reassembly. Build the jack handle and place the jack at the recommended spot as per your manual. Turn the handle clockwise to lift the car. If there's a hubcap on the lug nuts, remove it using the lug nut wrench or a screwdriver. Take off the lug nuts and slide off the tire and rim. Position the new tire with the valve stem facing out and secure the lug nuts by hand before tightening them once the car is back on the ground.

To switch out a tire on a 2014 Ford Escape, make sure you're in a safe spot with the engine off, the parking brake engaged, and have your owner's manual nearby. Place wheel wedges in front of the front tires if changing a rear tire, and behind the back tires if changing a front tire. Use the lug wrench to loosen the lug nuts, then position the jack securely under the frame near the flat tire and raise the vehicle about five inches. Once raised, finish removing the lug nuts and take off the flat tire carefully. Fit the spare tire onto the vehicle by aligning the rim center holes with the lug bolts, then replace and screw on the lug nuts. Lower the vehicle back down with the jack, remove the jack, and securely tighten the spare tire with the lug wrench.
