If the door lock system in your Lexus IS is not functioning, the first step is to attempt resetting the door locks. This process is simple and easy to do. Start by pressing and holding the unlock button for five seconds, then release it, followed by holding down the lock button for another five seconds before releasing it. Subsequently, you should be able to use your key fob to unlock and open the doors. If this method does not resolve the issue, the next step is to inspect the fuses linked to the door lock actuators. If the fuses are in good condition, using an OBD II scan tool to check for errors in the body control module may be necessary.

You instruct to not start the engine and then mention "when turning off the engine"...

To adjust the Lexus door lock settings, turn the ignition on without starting the engine. Put the car in neutral. Hold down the unlock button for around five seconds. Keep the car in neutral when turning off the engine. Press and hold the lock button for another five seconds. This process is designed to reset the settings.

In 2011, the driver's side door of my ES 350 wouldn't unlock using the key or key fob. The fix shared by Alex S. worked like a charm. A big thank you to Alex for the helpful solution!

Wow, what a day it was! I couldn't find my key, couldn't lock my doors, but after spending three hours researching and trying different methods, I finally managed to solve the problem. Holding the key fob for five seconds, opening and closing, didn't do the trick at first. So, I sat in the car and held the key near the alarm sensor light, pressing the on and off buttons for several seconds. When I got out of the car, it finally worked!

Experiencing difficulties using the remote to unlock the trunk? Try manually unlocking it instead. Using the key will also deactivate the alarm system.

I own a 2013 Lexus, but the car won't stay locked for more than 20 seconds. I've tried locking it from the inside, using the key fob, and even the back door handle, but it just won't stay locked.

Yvonne, when you say "on and off," are you talking about locking and unlocking? If not, can you clarify what you mean by "on and off"?
