If you're looking to reset the anti-theft system in your 2007 Lincoln MKZ, it's a simple process that only takes a few minutes. You can do it without any special tools. Just turn the vehicle's ignition on and off quickly 8 times without starting it, then leave it in the on position. You'll see the car's locks automatically cycle. Next, press and hold any button on your key fob for 20 seconds until you hear a beep. Finally, turn off the vehicle and start it again. If you continue to have issues with your anti-theft system, there might be a problem with the body control module that Lincoln would need to address.

I own a 2009 Lincoln MKZ. My car's anti-theft security system unexpectedly activated, causing the windows to remain down and preventing the engine from starting. To resolve this issue at home, how can I release the lock and get the windows to go up?

I can't start anything up because it won't turn over now that the security lock is active.

I recently bought a 2008 Lincoln MKX, and I'm facing an issue with the anti-theft system. I tried the solution you suggested yesterday, and it worked initially. However, the problem resurfaced a few hours later and again this morning. I even replaced the key battery and checked the fuse under the hood. The relay fuse is also new. Can you assist me with this, please? Thank you.

I own a 2011 MKZ and had it sitting unused for a while. Here's how I got it running smoothly again. If you have another vehicle, this method might work for you too. I disconnected the battery terminals, fully charged the battery, and let it sit disconnected for a few days (although I'm not sure if that step was necessary). I also replaced the batteries in both sets of keys. Once everything was ready, I reconnected the battery cables. When I turned the key in the ignition, the panic horn sounded, which I took as a positive sign. After that, the horn stopped, and the car started up and ran without any issues.

To restore the anti-theft system in your 2007 Lincoln MKZ, begin by entering your car with both your ignition key and remote switch. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it from "off" to "run" about 8 times in a span of 10 seconds, ensuring the 8th turn ends in the "run" position. After that, wait for the locks to cycle on and off by themselves. Within 20 seconds of the 8th turn, press and hold any button on your remote. Keep holding the button for up to 20 seconds until you hear the locks click and release automatically. Finally, remove the key from the ignition to complete the reset process.

The "key dance" mentioned above finally paid off once I decided to leave the driver's door open. Just pointing that out.
