I attempted switching it on and off 9 times, keeping the key in the on position for 10 minutes, but that didn't fix the issue. I removed the battery, which was dirty, and cleaned it. After reconnecting it, the problem persisted. So, I disconnected it again and used a knife to clean the contacts, and that did the trick as it started up without any issues.
