To clear the check engine light on a 2010 Mazda3, start by sitting in the passenger seat with the car turned off. Locate the silver button on the top right side of the instrument cluster and press and hold it. Next, turn on the ignition while still holding the button and wait a few seconds. You'll notice a flashing light for a brief moment after 5 to 10 seconds. Release the button, turn off the ignition, then restart the vehicle. The check engine light should now be reset, and you're good to hit the road.

With the engine off, press down on the gas pedal, insert the key, and turn it twice (without starting the vehicle). The dashboard indicators will illuminate. Wait for 20 seconds without letting go of the pedal. When the check engine light begins to flash, shut off the car entirely, remove the key, release the pedal, and then start the vehicle. I successfully completed the process on the second attempt.
