If the check engine light has turned on in your 2017 Hyundai Elantra, it means that the engine's computer has detected a diagnostic trouble code. Simply clearing the light won't fix the underlying issue, and it will likely come back on. One option is to visit an AutoZone where they can read the code for you and clear it, often at no cost. Alternatively, you can purchase a scantool or a bluetooth dongle to connect to the OBD-II port and retrieve and clear the code using your mobile device. If you only want the light to go away (for instance, if it was triggered by a loose gas cap or low tire pressure that you have already fixed), you can disconnect the negative battery cable for about half an hour. This can usually clear out any trouble codes, but keep in mind that it will also reset your radio presets and other settings.

To clear the check engine light on your 2017 Hyundai Elantra, you can either disconnect the battery cables for 10-15 minutes before reconnecting them, or you can cycle the ignition key from "on" to "off" twice, start the engine, and the light should go away.

What if you've been driving the car for the last 4-5 months and the Check Engine light is still on? Do you think my data got deleted or something?

The engine light illuminated a week after I bought a 2017 Hyundai Elantra GT. I am the second owner, and the Hyundai dealership is refusing to honor my warranty for the engine issue. They are now asking for over $5000 plus labor to replace the engine. The warranty is only valid up to 159,000 miles, and I am not close to that yet. Why are they not honoring the warranty?

I own a scan gauge with a clear code button that has always worked on my other cars, but it didn't work on this one. I had to disconnect the battery for a few seconds to reset it.
