The Toyota Tundra's automatic "distance to empty" calculation is determined by various factors like driving conditions, fuel level, and intake. It can't be manually reset, but disconnecting the negative battery terminal for 15 minutes or more can sometimes trigger a recalculation. However, most times, the new value ends up being the same as the original. While the distance to empty feature can be useful for estimating how long you can go before filling up, it may not always be accurate. It's recommended to keep your fuel tank above a quarter full to avoid being stranded in an emergency. Remember, while distance to empty is convenient, it's not always reliable.

In a Toyota Tundra, typically the low fuel light turns on when there are around 6 gallons of gas remaining.

In my 2016 Camry, when I first bought it and filled up the gas tank, it showed 420 miles until empty. Six years later, it only showed 320 miles when I filled it up. I was able to fix this issue by disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes and replacing it with a new one. After reconnecting the new battery, the Distance To Empty display started showing the correct mileage just like when the car was new!
