To reinitialize the Dodge DEF system, you will need to reset the computer itself. Since there is no official method for this, you'll have to think outside the box. To begin, pop the hood of the truck and secure it. Locate the battery in the hood and identify the negative cable while leaving the positive one untouched. Remove the negative cable, then wait for approximately 30 minutes to an hour. Reattach the cable, start the truck, and you should notice that all lights and systems have been reset, including the DEF. This is because once the computer loses its charge, it loses its memory and resets everything automatically.

I've attempted all of the suggested solutions on the vehicle, but it still shows 8 miles to go until reaching 5 mph. It's strange that it worked initially, then reappeared and won't reset now.

I just gave it a shot, but nothing happened. I removed both batteries and waited for more than an hour, but nothing changed. I'm driving a brand-new 2022 Ram 3500.

I recently replaced the sensor in my DEF tank with a high-quality one that is attached inside the tank. The dealership quoted me over $3,000 to fix the issue, but I purchased the tank from Mopar for $1,900. While returning from a hunting trip in the mountains on a Sunday with my camper being towed by my Jeep, I encountered a situation where my vehicle was about to go into limp mode. Instead of waiting for that to happen, I pulled over after receiving a warning that it would occur in 150 miles. I proceeded to clean the injector nozzle and disconnected the negative cables while I worked on it. The nozzle was simple to remove and clean. I then drove the remaining 240 miles home without any problems. Now that I am back home, I plan to investigate the pump as well.
